Josep Ribalta - URV is associate professor at the faculty of medicine. He has a PhD in Biology and is co-PI of the Research Unit on Lipids and Atherosclerosis, devoted to study lipid-driven mechanisms of cardiovascular disease. At present he is vice rector for doctoral education, director of the doctoral school and academic director of the Centre for Omics Sciences at the URV. He is fully convinced on the utility of scientific education and on the absolute need to provide it accompanied by solid transferable skills training. Therefore, very proud to serve in Versa as PI.
Benjamí Martorell - URV is the coordinator of the Doctoral School in the URV. He received his PhD in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry for the study of organic molecules on metal surfaces in 2008. Afterwards, he was a postdoctoral fellow in two very prestigious universities: Technical University of Munich and University College London. In the period 2014-2017 he was working in a British private company developing new types of energy-related storage materials. In 2017, he returned to URV and obtained his present position. He is also member of the teaching staff in the Chemical Engineering Department in URV and the Education Faculty in UOC, teaching and researching in topics about molecular modelling and the use of ICT in higher education quality.
Sandra Homs - URV has postgraduate studies in Neurosciences and Human Resources. She joined the URV in 2005, working at the Research Management Office. In 2012, she moved to the Doctoral School where she is currently working as technical staff in charge of managing access and admission of doctoral students as well as matters related to their annual assessment and academic records. She gives guidance to candidates, doctoral students, academic coordinators, and thesis supervisors. Also, she assists the steering committee of the Doctoral School regarding academic regulations and legal requirements.
Adrián Baeza - URV is a Master student in educational technology, and he is the URV project manager of VERSA. His main tasks are communicating with the URV participants and tracking them during the different modules of the project. He is also in charge of preparing the deliverables and milestones reports for the EU and making sure that everything is prepared on time.
Sandra Hasanefendic - VU is currently working as an assistant professor in the Science, Business and Innovation division at the Faculty of Science of the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She calls herself an ‘’innovation accelerator’’ because of her true passion for introducing innovative scientific ideas to diverse markets, guiding start-ups and people in accomplishing their business goals and optimising their market potential.
Denyse Snelder - VU has a PhD degree in sustainable land and water management and is currently in charge of acquisition and implementation of international projects at the Centre for International Cooperation (CIS) at VU Amsterdam in the Netherlands. She likes to combine research and capacity building in her projects that are mainly implemented in joint collaboration with partners in the “Global South”. Her interest in PhD skills’ enhancement originates from requests for skills training by PhD students engaged in her projects.
Michiel Bouman - VU is a Research Master student of the faculty of Theology and Religious Studies and the project coordinator for VERSA at the VU. His main tasks are communicating with the PhD students and supervising the project at the VU. He organises the trainings and open consultancy hours, sends reminders for deadlines and solves the problems the students encounter. Michiel is especially concerned with the smooth running of the project and meeting the students’ needs.
Kathrin Thedieck - UIBK is professor for biochemistry and heads the lab for metabolic signaling at Innsbruck University (Austria). Next to the in depth understanding of cellular mechanisms that control metabolic networks, her passion is in developing cross-border education and research in the European context and world-wide. For Kathrin, VERSA is a unique opportunity to not only foster the idea of European Universities together with our students, but to also dive deeply into new teaching and learning approaches. Petra Engele - UIBK has a PhD in biochemistry and currently works as a project manager for EU projects at the Institute of Biochemistry in Innsbruck. Throughout her career and private life international exchange has been an important factor not only for professional but also for personal development. Just like travelling, VERSA combines international exchange with soft skill training, two factors neglected in many curricula.
Sebastian Greiter - UIBK is a chemistry student, working as a student assistant at the Institute of Biochemistry in Innsbruck. He thinks that every skill acquired can be applied various situations down the line. So, the VERSA project is a great new approach to give students new tools they can use in their career and everyday live.
Flavio Escribano - Gecon Foundation is a doctor in Pedagogy through the Video game. He has more than 14 years of experience as a researcher and entrepreneur in the field of video games. Currently manages the transfer of technology from the research phase to the prototype development.
Sergio Alloza - Gecon Foundation is an expert in brain functioning with experience in video games psychology. Especially how they improve our skills while we have fun playing. Gamer, game designer and speaker with the aim of expanding the concept of the game as a playable tool from a psychological perspective.
